Bogor MapLocated in the hilly hinterland of Jakarta, about 60 km south of the capital, the city of Bogor was called Buitenzorg during the Colonial Era. During the nineteenth century, along with the systematic process of colonization of the Javanese hinterland initiated by the Dutch, a railway was completed in 1873 between Batavia and Buitenzorg.Bogor was founded by Baron Gustaaf van Imhoff who was a Gubenur of Dutch which always feel hot in Jakarta (Batavia). He tried to find another place to rest after he tired with his job. He found Bogor (Buintenzorg) as a nice place, cold and good view, therefore, he built a rest house for stay during his day off. He called Bogor as Buintenzorg.

PalaceBogor is between Ciliwung and Cisadane Rivers, surrounded by Salak, Pangrango and Gede Mountains. Because of this location in a hilly region, Bogor receives much more rain and is also cooler than Jakarta. The main attractions in Bogor are the Botanical Garden, created in 1817 by Reinwardt, and the Presidential Summer Palace.  The journey form Jakarta will be take one until one and half hours.
